Position Status: Full-Time
Ensure the conduct of legal matters and provide legal counsel and advice to the company and its subsidiaries with special emphasis on department specific matters.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide legal counsel on an assigned basis to members of management and various departments concerning areas of expertise
Oversee and evaluate the performance and progress of outside counsel representing the company in department-specific matters
Evaluate, determine and coordinate appropriate action/position/response to be taken by the company
Act on behalf of company and participate in negotiations and drafting of legal documents, etc.
Review, analyze and make recommendations concerning compliance with federal and state laws, and regulations affecting the company’s present and future business plans, and recommend actions to affect policy compliance and adopt the best business structure for legal compliance
Conduct, or assist in conducting, litigation or administrative proceedings affecting the company’s interests in his/her field of expertise
Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
Perform other duties as required

· Juris Doctorate degree and appropriate admission to the required state Bar plus ten (10) years’ experience as an attorney (preferably with FedEx) with at least three (3) years’ experience in job-specific area of law
· Work experience pertinent to hiring department required
· Strong negotiation and human relations skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
